Four ounces is a glass of wine - so for four ounces you are drinking 94 calories - which IS skinny for a margarita. The alcohol in this drinks is 12.7% which is comparable to wine. There are 37.5 calorie in 1.5 ounces of this drink. It has a good balance between lime and tequila and I don’t have to mix anything. In a shocking moment, I said to my husband, “I would actually drink this.” What? Well, it isn’t sweet. So, I tasted the margarita, and I pronounce it very drinkable. I could continue but I bet the Bethany Frankel fans are going to start flaming me. She probably wouldn’t ride in anything later than a 2011 BMW. Ummmm, yeah, so now I have another reason to hate it because I have nothing in common with Bethany Frankel.įor example, I own a 1984 Honda Accord that I actually like to drive. Skinnygirl drinks are the creation of Bethany Frankel who was made famous by her appearance on “The Real Housewives of New York” on Bravo. You see, I have had a margarita experience involving turquoise water and white sand that will be one of the apexes of my short life. Where have I been? I plunked down my $14 (ouch) and purchased the best seller of the lot the “Skinnygirl Margarita”. He replied, “We sell A LOT of Skinnygirl here. “Do you sell something called Skinny Girl?” I was feeling quite sheepish when I asked. But, I didn’t know what she was talking about until I asked the young man who sells kegs to college students about Skinnygirl. Looking to join the fun, but keep with the smaller waist line. The more opinions the better! Let's "drink together" and share our cocktail stories. One of my readers recently sent me to my local alcoholic beverage establishment with a request.ĭo you think you could do one on drinks for the 4th of July? I have seen the Skinny Girl ads & think hmmm, but would I be better off with a Mike's hard Cranberry Light. Have you tried this drink? What did you think? I'd love to hear from you in the comments section. Shop the full line of Skinnygirl ready-to-drink cocktails here > Order the Skinnygirl Margarita online here > If you'd like to try this Skinnygirl Margarita or any of the other Skinnygirl cocktails you can order them online and have them delivered right to your house. The Skinnygirl ready-to-serve cocktails also come in Sweet 'n Tart Grapefruit Margarita, White Cranberry Cosmo, Sangria, White Peach Margarita, Spicy Lime Margarita, Piña Colada, Mojito, and Sparkling Margarita. I have my eye on the Skinnygirl Sweet'rita next. There is nothing wrong with having a low-cal alternative for a busy girl's social calendar. Now that I know what to expect from the Skinnygirl line, I'll keep it in mind for parties where I know I'll be mixing and mingling rather than sitting down to savor a cocktail. These days I like my buzz without the low rent side effects even if I have to pay a little more. About an hour after I completed this review I got that icky feeling you get from well-drink cocktails, which was a fun flashback to my 20s. The downside is that it's a cheap buzz - which is totally a catch-22. You can pick up a 750ml bottle for right around $10. This bottled cocktail will get the job done. Officially this one rings in at 12.7% ABV and I love it. One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = Four Lokos It has a touch of sweet but nothing like you'd expect from a traditional, non-skinny margarita. This is not a sweet margarita so it's perfect if you are a fan of lighter drinks. One shaker = not sweet at all // Five shakers = your teeth may curl But overall, it's a bit of a struggle to drink because every now and then it bites back in that way only cheap booze can. It has more flavor than I expected from a cocktail billed as being low in calories. This marg has a light taste with just a hint sweet. Here is official my score for the Skinnygirl Margarita: I know I'll catch a good buzz (check) and I won't rack up a lot of calories in the process (check, check). (If you missed my explanation of fuzz, check it out here.) The Skinnygirl Margarita may not be the tastiest margarita I've ever had but it does check off two major boxes in my book. This bottled margarita is light AND boozy! Heck yeah! What this marg lacks in authentic, fresh margarita flavor it makes up for in fuzz factor. Prior to tasting it I was a little worried that it would just taste like a water down margarita. This pre-made margarita does not boast the natural ingredients that some of the other margas I've reviewed do, plus it is famously low-cal, so I wasn't sure what to expect. My default order at the bar is always a skinny margarita so I was hopeful that could be my new at-home fix. I have no idea why - but today's the day. Ready-to-serve cocktails? I know this line has been around forever but I've never tried them. Have you tried any of the Skinnygirl low calorie, We are going back to my first cocktail love - the margarita !
